Here is the ORIGINAL storybook of "The Lonely Doll" published and photographed by Dare Wright in 1957, first edition. It is a Classic story that many of you are sure to remember from your childhood (I know I do!) - it was one of my very favorite bedtime stories!! The story is about a doll and it starts out: "Once there was a little doll. Her name was Edith. She lived in a nice house and had everything she needed except somebody to play with. She was very lonely!" Edith was a felt doll owned by Dare Wright along with two bears, Mr. Bear and Little Bear who become Edith's friends in the book. Dare took her doll & Bears along to photograph them to use in the book. It is such an endearing story from a sweet and innocent time. There is drama when Edith and Little Bear get into trouble and Mr. Bear has to give them both a spanking (something unheard of today)- but love prevails and Edith comes to realize she has friends in the bears for always. All pictures are in black & white-very good photography. The book is hardbound 12.5" tall X 9" wide in fine condition. It has a pink & white gingham border with a sweet picture of Edith on the front and back cover (same design on both sides). The binding is in good condition with no torn or written-on pages in all-original state.
Please Note: Doll is not included in this sale, BUT is available on another of my listings! I have also listed the original 1966 book "A Gift From the Lonely Doll" for sale.
