Here we have a RARE 4" X 5" Candy Container disguised as a doll Purse or Sac, circa mid-late 1800's. In the Victorian era, these were given to little girls as Christmas gifts or at Etrennes (the french New Year) and would be stuffed full with candy. After the holiday, the child could use it as a play thing or doll accessory! It is amazing that it has survived the ages. It is made of woven straw over cardboard and has purple ruched velvet trim, leatherette bands with buckles and gold braid trim. The sweet decoupage scrap art centerpiece is a lucky horseshoe with a pink rose that states "Good Luck". There are cord handles for a doll or child to hold. It is in great condition and it still opens and closes.
This sale is for the PURSE/CANDY CONTAINER ONLY! It looks lovely together with the hat which is NOT included but is available in my other listing. Purse is modeled by my 26" & 29" Jumeau sisters which are for display only, not included in the sale!
*Lovely Doll Accessory for your larger doll to carry!
