An absolutely stunning early 1920's Chinese silk padded jacket.
Bright cobalt blue silk with koi carp and foliage, it has inky black satin detailing including the traditional Chinese mandarin collar, the front fastening and under the arms.
It fastens with covered buttons in traditional loop fittings.
There is detailed embroidered piping across the seams and the cuffs are deeply edged in a soft dusky pink silk which is embroidered with pretty butterflies and flowers.
It is a traditional crossover style jacket and is also padded but remains very lightweight.
The lining is a pink burlap type fabric.
There has been a repair to the underside of the sleeve, it is not noticeable but has tucked in one of the fastening loops (the one for the waist under and this would need unpicking to release, there is a tiny piece here that needs to be resewn.
There is some very slight fade on the cuffs, the lining inside shows some staining at the bottom and top which appears to be water marking of sorts.
There is a small area of separation to the top near the collar on the black satin.
It is unlabelled, there is evidence of hand sewing which can be seen inside the jacket.
