A rare antique late Victorian / early Edwardian day dress.
A two piece dress comprising of a bodice with long sleeves and crochet cuffs, the bodice is open and does not fasten, designed to be worn over a blouse.
The skirt is most beautiful, long length with gorgeous crochet panelling down the front centre and around the back and the hem, the skirt has layered peplum style panels around the back and hips.
Such a beautiful piece of antique clothing, made from very thick and heavy cotton in a natural off white shade.
The ensemble comes complete with its very own matching crocheted handkerchief, original to the outfit.
It fastens with the original hook fasteners and some later added press studs.
It has a delicate crochet yoke to the back of the neck.
Good used condition overall for the age, some small areas of fraying, a couple of small nips to the back of the bodice, there are a few grubby marks around especially near the fastener areas, there is a large faint brownish mark to the back of the skirts, may or may not clean out, the handkerchief has a large rust mark and various water / oil type marks.
