A gorgeous and elaborate pair of early Victorian silver and cut steel drop earrings.
The most amazing attention to detail in every little corner.
They have a lily of the valley style top which attaches the ear wire and the main drop extends from below.
The main drop is of a scrolling decorative shape with leaves and scrolls and a gentle forget me not flower in the centre of the design, all in an intricate cut out design.
Each time you look you see more detail than before, the 'gems' inset into the earrings are in fact small cabochons of cut steel, polished to a high shine to give the appearance of diamonds.
They are quite large and fairly heavy, 2.5" drop, 1" width and they weigh 15.39 grams.
They are in good antique condition, slight bend in the ear wire which is a shepherd's crook type, no loss of the cut steel and a gentle silver patina.
No hallmarks but the earrings test as silver 925, each one is stamped at the bottom reverse with England.
A beautiful pair of antique earrings.
