A colourful antique ceramic pitcher or jug by Allertons of England, this is a rare pattern for Allertons, a chinoiserie pattern in bright colours featuring foliage and tropical birds the pattern is called Burmese.
It has a relief moulded handle which is also finely decorated and a nice decorative shape to it overall.
Allertons were famous for their speciality which was lustre ware.
The detailing is good and the rim is lined with gilt, there has been a gaudy repair near the top of the handle and there is a hairline crack from the side of the spout around 1.5".
Lovely rare pattern, great for the collector, the Allertons printed mark is present on the base along with the pattern name, the stamp was used between 1903-1912.
6.5" width at widest measurement.
