A gorgeous Victorian cranberry glass and silver plated biscuit barrel / jar.
It is an early Victorian piece made from pressed glass with two moulds joined to complete the form, the joins can be seen on the glass and it has a lovely interesting cushion / quilted effect design to it.
The handle is reeded and both it and the lid are made from silver plate and marked on the underside of the lid with EPNS.
A really nice example of early Victorian pressed glass in the popular bright red cranberry shade.
It is in good antique condition with no chips or cracks to the glass, some very light wear on the silver plate but otherwise very good.
Designed to hold your biscuits and cookies, keeping them fresh whilst looking fab but could be used for any number of purposes.
Approx 6" height, 3" handle height and 19" circumference at the widest point.
