The most grand and tremendous Georgian cut steel necklace, this is an absolute showstopper of incredible proportions.
The craftsmanship that went into these, pieces is unbelievable and they would never be recreated today, the steel was moulded, cut, polished and joined in such a way as to recreate the look and feel of diamonds.
This necklace is huge and oozes grandeur, it is so large and elaborate it could be worn over the huge mantles of Georgian attire.
Now this necklace could be styled in a multitude of ways to suit your outfit, you could wear with the chain going down the back for low backed dresses or tops, as a grand statement on a mantle collar by a male or female, you could double it over for layers and shorter length or wear loosely down the front, the possibilities are endless with this incredible 19th century beauty.
It is in pretty good condition for its age c1810, there have been a couple of repairs on some links but in keeping with the style, I cannot find any rusting which is what these pieces are most prone to.
It has no fastener and easily goes over the head, doubled (closed) it hangs at 24" length which takes it to a whopping 48" total.
Due to the size and the ability to use over a mantle coat this could well have been a nobility piece.
