A Victorian Parian ware, clayware jug.
It has the British Diamond registration mark on the underside stamped in relief.
Much of the diamond mark impression has worn but the material, year and month can still be seen.
It was lidded at one point and the holes for the metal lid can be seen, it has an attractive and rustic leaf and vine design and a deep cobalt blue overglaze, reminiscent of Bennington.
IV for clay
I for year 1872
B for October
The perfect country kitchen piece.
