A lovely Georgian sterling silver cream jug or creamer by the renowned duo Peter and Ann Bateman, very collectable are the early Bateman pieces.
The jug is a helmet shaped design, chased with a decorative foliate and floral detailing, slight repousse accents, the front has a shield shaped cartouche featuring a Stag, representative of the 'House' or family crest, the top has a pie crust edging.
It is fully hallmarked on the base, PB/Ab for the maker, London, lion passant, bust of King George and date letter U for 1795.
A lovely decorative piece of 18th century silverware for the home or collector by a renowned maker of the period.
There has been a small repair to the handle at some point but this is only noticeable on close inspection, there is a small Approx 1cm crack in the top see pictures but this could be easily repaired and does not detract from it's beauty and the price reflects.
It is approx 5" in height and 6" width measured at the widest point, it weighs approx 91.98 grams.
