A lovely set of 3 Victorian solid horse brasses, there is a single crescent, a triple crescent and a parrot within a stirrup shaped brass.
Great for display and often hung as a fireside ornamental piece.
Horse brasses were originally used to decorate the leathers and tack of draught horses such as shires when pulling huge carts for trade and shows.
They often had symbolic meaning and the parrot in the Victorian era was said to be a symbol of voice, truth and affirmation, crescents symbolised change and feminine power.
Perfect for the lover of antiques, owls or horses!
