This is one incredible Victorian photograph album, it is a large musical album, fully working and it still plays the tunes and has its original key.
The album is the British Army Album, published in 1890 by J. G. M & Co it was
Designed and printed in England and bound in Germany.
Incredible thick cushioned leather and binding with heavy embossed design and gilt lettering, the album contains 12 fine chromolithograph plates of various famous historical battle scenes by Captain Bunnett.
There are numerous Victorian and later photographs throughout the album including post mortem photography of children.
The spine has some wear on the edges but is still held strong, the music box is kept behind its original glass and is in great condition, it plays smoothly and turns well, it winds with ease.
Internally the pages are nice, there is some age related foxing and tanning and slight weakness near the spine.
There is a heavy brass clasp that holds the album closed and when opened this releases a pin that plays the music.
So much history and interest rolled into one book.
