Mother Carey's Chicken: Her journey to the unknown Isle by G Manville Fenn.
This is the original first edition of the classic that was later adapted for theatre and film, published in 1888 by Blackie and Son, 8 full page illustrations by A. Forester, a scarce edition.
There is a pasted note gifting the book for attendance, the name has been crossed out in marker.
No dust jacket, moss green cloth boards with gilt lettering and page edges with an embossed black image.
There is some loss of gilding to the lettering and the gilt page edges have discoloured slightly but the pages are in lovely condition and it is a physically sound copy.
Fenn was a highly prized author and his works are still widely read today, Mother Carey's Chicken is a tale of adventure and action.
Overall very good antique condition for the age.
