A beautiful and unusual Edwardian mourning blouse with a beautiful high ruffle collar and front which had a singular front button fastening and a fastening at the neck.
It has a quilted detailing at the upper arm and the cuffs and is made from a crisp and shiny black taffeta, the buttons are covered in the same tafetta fabric.
It has bishop style sleeves, the collar wraps across the neck and fastens with the singular button with a cotton loop.
Loose fitting as was popular in the period.
It is unsized but approx measurements are provided below.
It is in excellent antique condition, I can't really find any defects on this, it is always a pleasure to find pieces in such good condition.
Can be worn oversized or cinched in with a slimline belt it would also look very pretty under an underbust corset or dress.
28" length (shoulder to hem)
17" shoulder to shoulder
