A lovely piece of fine antique art, an engraving of the religious scene II Samuel / Ch.11.V. 2 David and Bathsheba, taken from the The First New York editions of the Bible in English published from 1792.
David looks upon Bathsheba naked in the fountain, titled in English adapted from Latin.
The print is visibly signed Doolittle (Amos Doolittle / (1754-1822)), when removed from the frame the date of 1795 can be found when held up to the light and a fleur de lis.
This is an original engraving from the 1795 edition of the Bible.
