The Pilgrims Progress by John Bunyan, this is a first edition by Croome and Co, London, undated but c1866.
This is a very collectable book and marks a poignant point in England's religious history, John Bunyan; a preacher wrote the original book in the 1600's whilst imprisoned, he was imprisoned following religious reform in England and would not agree to discontinue preaching.
A highly regarded piece of English literature.
There is a nice illustration in the front of the pilgrim himself.
The book is in fair antique condition, grey cloth boards with a decorative border, gilt lettering to the spine, spine is sunned slightly, there is some foxing and tanning throughout and some loose pages but all in tact.
A previous owners name is written in the front paste down but it is small and in pencil.
