A victorian paper press or embosser, namely the baby press, made from heavy jappaned iron with gilt detailing.
It is very heavy and very pretty, it is lacking an actual stamp which is fitted with letters on to press, it cam be unscrewed to fit one in so if you could find one to fit it would work, it is also lacking a base plate on which it would press but you could use a different wood block.
The gilding is in good condition with some wear but it is still lovely and gold and all of the floral detailing can be seen clearly, it has the brand name affixed on a gold tone tag on the front.
It is very heavy thus incurs a higher postage cost due to the weight.
It would have been traditionally used for letter heading etc. But makes a great nostalgic crafting item, it would probably work on leather too but I'm not sure.
