An unusual and fascinating antique japanned tin folding sandwich box.
Gilt decoration of the edges of the black japanned metal lid, the gilt metal tag has the name of G. Hollinshed, the patentee of the sandwich box, patent number of 1009.
When the lid is removed the sides can be folded flat so that the lunch / sandwich tin does not take up room when empty.
A fabulous antique curio Circa 1880.
It is in good condition for the age, it shows a fair few chips and scratches to the enamel on the metal and part of the gilt lettering (see photos)
