An incredible antique 17th century table runner.
A historical piece of tapestry sewn into a grand and decadent table runner, made up of a rich red velvet foliate design with the background woven entirely in a gold thread, the red velvet design has a gilt sewn border around the edges of the entire design.
It has a large red velvet border with twisted silk tassle edging.
Backed securely onto a thick cut burlap backing.
This piece is amazing hailing from the 1600's, surviving major historical events such as guy fawkes, the plague, the great fire of London!
It will require some restoration, it has some separation on the gold threading, some balding areas, some areas of border need to be reattached but this is item with plus / minus 400 years of age and is well worth the effort.
Approx 100" length and 8" width.
