This fabulous antique spoon is really a work of art!
A very rare find this amazing Victorian silver plated spoon was produced by William Hutton and Son Circa 1870, full silver plate hallmarks can be found on the reverse of the spoon.
The silver plated spoon itself is finely decorated with intricate engraved design on the bowl which extends down the handle to a very detailed ferrule.
The handle on this piece is the real exception, it is crafted from a light ceramic which has then been decoratively hand painted with berries and leaves on autumnal colours, there is then a gilt metal circle enclosing a gilt metal leaf with rich blue Cloisonné enamel, there is a smaller copy of this elaborate artwork on the back also.
The silver plate is in very good antique condition with very little wear, it is an A grade of silver plate which is if higher quality, the hand painted handle shows some fade where it has been handled and there is a small hairline crack in it (hopefully you can see it in the pictures) however it is still very solid and completely usable.
Spoon bowl width 2.2"
Spoon bowl length 3"
A true work of art for the dining table!
