This is a rare antique palace size Turkish Serapi Oriental rug from the 1910s to 1920s in good condition. The rug has 100% wool pile that is mostly even-low with some lower areas and a few minor spots re-woven as pointed out in the pictures. The sides are complete and the ends are missing only a row or two. The piece has a superb central medallion design with great ivory corners and an excellent border. It has a very desirable Serapi design with great Turkish colors. The rug comes in a very rare and impressive size and is extremely decorative and collectible. We shampoo all of our rugs and we do it the same way for the cheap ones as we do the expensive ones. We do not include these cost in the price, but sometimes the buyer thinks the rugs are not clean. Most dealers that sell rugs will tell you to have it cleaned when you receive it, but we clean our rugs before they are shipped. If you think that the rug smells or needs to be cleaned when you receive it you will need to send it to a rug cleaner in your area.
Light purple background with navy border and ivory, teal, light blue, salmon.

We sell antique oriental rugs from estates in rural PA, most of the rug dealers in large cities like NY and LA resale our rugs at much higher prices due to high rent. You can get the same rugs for less by buying directly from us or other rural rug dealers. Moreover, you need to be careful when buying antique rugs. We see dealers in NY and LA lie about their rugs by pretending that the rugs they selling are antique even though their rugs are new. These dealers Chemically wash their rugs with lead which make the rug looks old “antique”… these rugs are not as valuable as real antique Persian rugs.
Worse, the lead used in the wash is unhealthy to breathe, especially for small children. If you purchased these chemically washed rugs, they smell like gasoline and do not smell like pure wool.
We can send the rug for pro. reweaving and re-piling for a few dollars. The rug will look like new.

Moreover, you need to be careful when buying rugs online. Other large rug dealers lie about their rugs by pretending that their rugs are antique even though their rugs are new. These dealers chemically wash their new rugs with lead which makes the rugs look older. These rugs are not as valuable as real antique rugs. Worse, the lead used in the wash is unhealthy to breathe, especially for small children.
