This figural brass jewelry/ trinket box shows an English shoeshine boy from the victorian era, standing by a lantern. Both a decorative and functional item with a masculine flair. The total piece measures 3-1/2 " long, 2-1/4 " wide and 7-5/8 " tall to the top of the lantern .There is so much attention to detail in the boy's face, clothing, shoeshine kit, and the cobblestone top of the box.The drawer in the box opens and closes easily. The figure is stable and there is only the slightest bit of movement if you wiggle the figure. The arms underneath the lantern can be used to hold, rings, chains etc. The piece is in excellent condition, but you may prefer to have it polished to remove several areas of tarnish. A glimpse into a bygone era when shoe shine boys, also called shoe- black boys, would shine your shoes for a small fee.
