This spectacular pair of early 1850's cream silk child's slippers are a truly rare find. They are perfect for a large early doll or a beautiful accessory for a diorama of that era. They are in absolutely amazing near perfect condition for their age with just the slightest discolouration on one toe and very slight shredding of the silk which if fairly insignificant. The leather soles have some age spots but no damage. They are constructed of canvas with embroidered silk overlay and are held together with the tiniest stitches. The rosette decoration has a silk pleated surround with a crocheted centre. They are fastened by a silk loop over a button. I can imagine Queen Victoria's children would have worn such fine and fancy slippers.
I believe these wonderful slippers must have been de-accessioned from an English Doll Museum They are just pristine considering they are made of silk. Their size is 4 1/2 inches long by 1 1/2 inches wide with a 5 1/2 inches ankle circumference.
If you are a lover of big early dolls and want that something special, look no further and secure these rare to find luxury slippers as you may not find another in such an amazing condition.
