On offer is this lovely collectible mourning locket. It's in good condition overall, the rolled gold has tarnished and worn over the years creating this rather lovely aged look. The remaining plating still shines up beautifully still.
It has a traditional oval locket shape which has been superbly decorated all over with intricate engraved patterns.
It hinges open as it should still to reveal the original weaved hair piece - this is so intricate and finely weaved that requires strong magnification to appreciate it. The original glass bezel is also present.
The whole back containing the hair piece can be removed however this fits tightly when in place.
Unmarked for a maker but certainly has age, mid 19th century.
It measures a charming 20mm in drop and is ready to be collected and enjoyed once again.
