On offer is this truly unique antique historical fish slice. It's in good condition overall, there is considerable ware to the silver plating exposing the base nickel silver in areas; extensive scratching especially to the end section and notable dents to the edging but as shown in the photos all adding to the aged charm and character of the piece.

It's of traditional fish slice form decorated with an old English fiddle pattern handle terminal and engraved patterned end complete with standing military looking figure (now worn but still visible).

The handle terminal has been engraved with "S M 72nd" - from the sergeant's mess of the 72nd regiment - a British Army Highland Infantry Regiment (Duke of Albany's own Highlanders) whom joined with the 78th regiment to form the 1st Battalion of the Seaforth Highlanders in 1881.

Sheffield produced circa late 19th century it really is a unique historical find.

It measures 32.5cm (12 and 3/4 inches) in length and despite the extensive ware is ready to be collected and enjoyed once again!
