On offer is this unique historical wall charger. It's in really good condition overall, no chips cracks or restoration.
It's of traditional form, decorated with a design showing a field gun with a cockerel beneath and a triumphant cockerel above. Around the top are the French words "1914 Gloire a Notre 75. 1915" - produced to commemorate the 75mm field gun, used during the First World War as anti-personnel weaponry firing large quantities of time-fused shrapnel shells on the enemy. These guns were also mounted as anti-aircraft and were capable of firing 12lb and 16lb shells. They are still used today at commemorative events.
Marked on the reverse with "Terre de Fer" and also the maker Choisy le Roi, French, circa 1915. There are two small holes where hanging rope would've been threaded through to be hung up on a wall.
It measures an impressive 28.5cm (around 11 inches) in diameter and is ready to be collected and enjoyed once again!
The postage quote is a for a tracked Royal Mail service.
Many thanks for viewing my shop items :-)
