On offer is this lovely antique loving/ trophy cup. It's in good condition overall, the silver plating shines up well still all over - there are a few signs of ware over the edges and handles exposing the base copper metal and notable scuffs and scratches over the main body but as shown in the photos all adding to the aged charm and character of the piece. Each letter has been engraved through to the copper base creating a lovely contrast.

It's of traditional loving cup form, plain in design yet so elegant in appearance. The front side has been much later engraved with "203rd Infantry Brigade, Brig. G H Gilmore, D.S.O., M.C. Company Knockout, Association Football, Challenge Cup".

The cup itself dates from the King George III era, circa 1780's - old Sheffield plate (fusing silver on copper) and the military engraving would've been done circa 1920's.

It measures 17cm (just over 6 and 1/2 inches) in length from handle to handle end and 13.5cm (5 and 1/4 inches) in total height.

A lovely historical loving/ trophy cup ready to be collected and enjoyed once again!
