Offering a nice length of 18 inches and over 100 grams of top quality natural coral, this grand necklace includes a beautiful 18K yellow gold cabochon clasp. Its engaging soft blush hue is a favorite among coral lovers. It radiates such a youthful glow against all complexions and it can be worn with everything in your closet, from casual to dressy.
Sure to charm, this 18" necklace features 31 uniform sized natural angel skin coral beads in the 13-13.5mm range. It is fitted with an 18K yellow clasp that showcases a beautiful oval coral cabochon. The clasp is a custom filigree bezel mount with a partially solid back. It measures just over 3/4" wide by 9/16" tall (19.2x14.7mm). The cabochon itself measures 14x10mm. The clasp has a tongue and groove closure as well as a figure 8 safety catch for added security. These safety catches not only prevent accidental loss but also work to prevent wear and tear on the clasp closure as well. This is an added plus for this substantial necklace of 114.5 grams. The clasp is hallmarked "750". Given the uniform size of the beads, the clasp can be worn in back or at the side, as it is too beautiful to hide.
The coral is a uniform blush variety of angel skin coral. Actual hue is a soft blush base tone with wisps of darker peach here and there. Our photos did not capture the actual blush hue of this necklace. The darker pink blushes appear brownish with more disparity than their actual smooth color transition, a common challenge in still photos of angel skin coral. On the neck, this necklace appears to be a soft white hue, with its soft blush bringing an intriguing glow to your skin, seemingly out of nowhere. It will work its magic on all skin tones, even the fair complected who avoid Mr. Sunshine.
The coral is natural, not treated, not bleached or embellished in any manner. The coral is dense with no surface fissures nor are there any growth plate lines visible beneath the surface. There are no use/age related chips or cracks to the beads or to the clasp. The beads are polished to the desirable high gloss that everyone has come to adore these days. While coral does take a magnificent professional polish, this can dissipate over time. Based on the age (era) of a particular specimen of coral, high speed rotary tools and electric tumblers were not always used to create a high gloss finish. A softer glow is achieved with hand polishing which was the norm for antique and many vintage pieces. We do offer repolishing services for natural coral. Contact us for more information.
We estimate age to be early 1960's, a time when dressing to impress was at its zenith. This beauty has been freshly cleaned, conditioned and restrung. It is ready to thrill all over again.
The cabochon clasp is in excellent working condition. The cabochon itself is free of any chips or cracks and is securely in its mount. The tongue and groove closure still snaps securely shut with a distinctive click. The safety catch is completely intact and in good working order. It has done its job very well over the years and the clasp's groove is crisp and without issue.
