Untouched by time, this splendid 1930's Etruscan Revival shell cameo panel bracelet offers the elegance of buttery 18K gold in a heavy gold vermeil over spun silver design.
Seemingly untouched by time, this bracelet features 10 offset square panels, with three Carnelian shell cameos. Each of the left facing carvings depicts a mid-19th century woman in similar pose with upswept hair and ringlets at her nape. Each of the cameos is bezel set, with the central cameo measuring 17.5x12mm and the two side cameos each measuring 14x9.5mm. The largest central panel measures 20mm square, with its offset height at 26mm (1-1/16"). The two side cameo panels measure 16.6mm square with an actual offset height of 21.5mm (7/8"). The remaining panels each features a spun silver flower at center and measure 7.5mm. The smaller panels' offset height is 10mm, or 3/8". Each of the panels attaches to the next with double links. The bracelet closes with a tongue and groove clasp. When closed, the bracelet measures 6-3/4" long. It weighs 14.3 grams.
The entire bracelet is heavily gilded with 18K yellow gold with some silver points intentionally left exposed for visual interest. This thick vermeil finish is still intact. The clasp is hallmarked with an encircled "800" and "19 GE" within a fascio stamp. The "GE" indicates that the silversmith was registered in the Northern region of Genoa.
This ten panel bracelet absolutely glows on the wrist. Its finely spun silver pattern emulates the look of golden lace that makes for beautiful presentation of the three shell cameos. Each of the flower's exposed silver beads emulate the look of tiny seed pearls.
Elegantly preserved, this bracelet has lived a beautiful life and is ready for its next adventure. It is in excellent condition and without flaw. The cameo shells are supple and without chips, cracks or peeling. The bezels and spun silver panels exhibit no breaks or evidence of prior repair. All of the double panel links are securely in place with no evidence of replacements. The gold's 18K finish still glows like new on both front and back sides. When magnified, even the clasp's hidden tongue still retains its golden glow with minimal markings.
This bracelet is a beauty. It is a standout worn alone or coupled with other gold or silver bracelets. You will love its lacy elegance.
