Captivating in red. This free form red coral bead necklace is divine. Offering large beads, long length in always alluring Mediterranean red coral. Mmmm....good.

The necklace measures 26-1/4" long (approximately 67cm). This is a hard to find length, especially in red coral. The shape and size of each bead is unique, ranging in size from 16.5mm by 10.8mm at center down to 8.5mm by 6.75mm. The necklace closes with an engraved 18K yellow gold bead clasp that features a self-locking tongue and groove closure. The bead clasp measures 10mm. It has been tested at 18K yellow gold. There is a partial "50" hallmark on the tongue itself. The necklace weighs 54 grams.

This necklace celebrates the natural curves of the red coral trees found in the deeps of the Mediterranean Sea. Due to the smaller scale of red coral trees, this size of bead in red coral is difficult to achieve. These beads reflect raw stalk cuts that have been gently polished but left in their natural shape to prevent waste and effect a bead twice the size of a round cut. With less waste, this gives a much larger bead that satisfies today's large scale standards while keeping the price very affordable.

The coral is of course natural with no treatment or dye. Actual hue is a warm brick red that is deeper than tomato red with some brown undertones. It is not oxblood red but what we would refer to as traditional red. The hue is uniform with no white streaks or spots.

As all coral is precious and few, these beads savor the natural growth pattern of coral with rough edges and surfaces sanded and hand polished to a silky gloss. Despite their natural shape, the edges and body of each bead are extremely smooth and are very soothing to the touch. (My oh my, you will love the way these beads feel in your hands). We estimate the beads to be from 1930's-1940's, with the clasp likely 1960's era. The beads are supple and without wear/age related cracks or damage. The clasp is in good working order. This necklace has just been restrung and is ready to wear and enjoy upon arrival.

The vibrant red hue of this necklace brings remarkable color and blush to any skin tone. It is perfect for day or evening wear, all year round. This necklace looks great worn with just about any neckline, high or low.

What a way to celebrate the wondrous beauty of coral.

It will be delivered in a lovely presentation case, perfect for gift giving and storage. Plus Fast & Free shipping to USA.
