A little something in red for your sweet Valentine.
Lucky is the woman that hails rubies as her birthstone. Symbolizing love and passion, the ruby is thought to arouse the senses and channel good health, wisdom and wealth. Rubies are perfect for everyday wear as they are the hardest gemstone next to the diamond, and both this ring and earrings are sprinkled with diamonds too.
Circa 1980's, this lovely suite consists of an 18K white and yellow gold ring with a 1.5ct solitaire ruby and two round diamond accent stones along with matching earrings, each with a 1ct ruby and diamond accent stone.
The ring features a white gold ring shank with the stones set in a cathedral setting, with the faceted oval ruby prong set in yellow gold and the round diamonds set in white gold. Each of the diamonds measures 3.75mm in diagonal and together offer approximately .42ct tdw. The ring rises off the finger just under 1/2 inch and its face measures just under 1/2" wide by 5/16" tall (11x7.5mm). The ring shank measures a size 6.5 US. It is hallmarked "18K" and stamped with a makers mark, "A/C". It weighs 5.3 grams.
Each of the drop earrings features a 1ct round faceted ruby and a .11ct diamond that are prong set on an 18K stationary drop that suspends from a 14K leverback ear wire. There is no hallmarks on the gold drops themselves but they have been tested at 18K yellow gold. The ear wires are hallmarked 14K and most likely are replacements, possibly for non-pierced screwback fittings. The earrings weigh 2.9 grams.
Together the ring and earrings weigh 8.2 grams or 5.27 dwt, with 3.5ct rubies and .64ct diamonds.
The ring and earrings are in excellent condition. All of the stones are original and secure. Under magnification, there is minimal surface wear to the stones, ring shank and earrings commensurate with occasional wear. We see no damage or evidence of prior repair. This beautiful suite is ready to wear upon arrival.
It will be delivered in a lovely presentation case, perfect for gift giving and storage.
