Once upon a time...every fine lady likely owned or longed for a grand golden chain from which to suspend her "modern" locket watch or perhaps a pocket watch inherited from her beloved husband or father. Not to mention how a solid gold chain would add to the fashionable presentation and utility of attaching a necessary chatelaine (household tools) or lorgnette (glasses).
While those days are long past, this beautiful antique chain from the late 1800's still reigns in its beauty and quality, offering up a seemingly endless golden chain of 49 inches that weighs in at a hefty 29.3 grams. While still perfect for display of a pendant or pendant watch, even a favored pocket watch heirloom, the sheer length of this chain necklace allows it to be worn in so many ways--limited only by your imagination.
With a total chain length of 48-1/2 inches plus 1/2" inch for its accompanying clasp, this 14K yellow gold rope chain is just absolutely perfect. This is a solid rope design with a 2.4mm chain width. It is ready to win hearts and please all over again. Its beautiful gold slide is a puffy 10mm round with a 3mm natural seed pearl accent. Gold slides such as these were utilized in a variety of jewelry from this period, including necklaces and bracelets. While many of those designs have not survived, the demand for the slides themselves have never waned, creating a market for the slides themselves. Of course, this slide is in just as beautiful condition as its original necklace, gliding up and down its commanding chain's length. The slide can be worn up high, close to the throat, or down low.
The 14K trigger clasp can be attached to any favorite watch, pendant or even heirloom brooch. It is hallmarked "14K". The chain can showcase the slide itself as a small accent pendant or can be doubled for a dramatic yet shorter length necklace. Also consider there is enough chain here to create one 20" chain and a 29 inch chain or three 16" chains--for a fraction of their value. Wow!
Of course, this magnificent necklace will be delivered in an elegant presentation case. Let's not forget, that the Victorians were champions in the art of the presentation and Cameo Couture too believes that the vehicle is just as important as its cargo.
