Striking yet simply functional. This 10K white gold filigree bar pin combines quality design with a brooch pin that is sure to please. We all could use a sparkling pin for accent or utility.
Measuring just over 2-1/4" wide, this is a filigree design crafted of 10K white gold. Circa late 1910's to early 1920's, the sparkling jewel showcases a square cut blue sapphire at center. The pin measures 4.4mm wide at center, graduating to 7.6mm at each end. This stone is a synthetic sapphire in the cherished brilliant blue of a natural sapphire. Perfect in color and clarity, the introduction of lab created sapphires and rubies in the late 1800's sparked great interest, resulting in these lab creations being highly sought after. Everyone was enthralled with the technology and had to have one of these man made creations. Many bar pins from the 1910's to 1930's incorporated synthetic sapphires and rubies in white gold settings.
This stone is bezel set and measures 4.2mm square. It is mounted above the filigree work and its brilliant blue hue flashes brightly against its white gold background. The brooch is fitted with a locking clasp that is hallmarked "10K". There is a makers mark of a "G" within a circle. The brooch weighs 2.5 grams.
The pin is in excellent condition. We see no damage to the filigree and the brooch hinge, pin and clasp are without issue and in excellent operating condition.
This pin can be worn as an adornment for the collar, lapel or pocket. Or it can easily be worn perpendicular with your favorite chain as a pendant. Just the right bit of shiny and color to brighten up your day.
It will be delivered in a lovely presentation case, perfect for gift giving and storage.
