A set of 4 French kitchen tin nesting canisters and a match box made in the 1930s. This checker design was (and still is) very popular in France, and is known as 'Lustucru' named after a pasta company which used a checkerboard design on their packaging. These canisters were premium or incentive received by consumers for buying Lustucru products. Lovely and nostalgic french country decoration.
The 4 canisters were designed to store from the largest to the smallest: Flour, Sugar, Coffee, Pepper. Allumettes means matches in French.
Condition: These canisters are in good shabby chic vintage condition with normal sign of usage and rust. The match box has more rust inside.
Flour Canister (largest) : 5½" (14 cm) H x 3¾" (9.5 cm) L x 2¾" (7 cm) W
Pepper Canister (smallest) : 4" (10 cm) H x 2¾" (7 cm) L x 1¾" (4.5 cm) W
Matches box: 5" (12 cm) W x 4½" (11 cm) H
