A set of 3 French kitchen tin nesting canisters and a matches (Allumettes) box made in the 1930s. This checker design was (and still is) very popular in France, and is known as 'Lustucru' named after a pasta company which used a checkerboard design on their packaging. These canisters were premium or incentive received by consumers for buying Lustucru products. Lovely and nostalgic french country decoration.
The 3 canisters were designed to store from the largest to the smallest: Chicory, Tea and Pepper
Condition: These canisters are in shabby chic vintage condition with some markings and rust. The design is still visible and has developed a nice patina. The front of the match box has faded more than the other tins. Click on ZOOM for larger pictures.
