Very old ironstone sauce / gravy/ jam boat with a red pinkish transfer ware, made by the French company Porcelaine Opaque de Gien in the early 1900s. This model is called Chardons which translates to thistle in english, the botanical plant being illustrated here. Thistle is very prevalent in Provence where I grew up during the summer.
This model is really pretty and not very common. So I am so happy that I was able to procure some pieces. This cake stand has a stamp from the manufacturer below the feet. This specific stamps was used during the 1886 - 1938 period.
I have several other dishes from that collection available for sale. Please contact me for more info.
Condition: This sauce boat is in excellent vintage condition with no chips or cracks. There are very limited marking inside the bowl. One area on the feet has the transferware overlapping a little bit.
