A very nice small vintage French coffee grinder made by the French company Peugeot Frères. This particular model called "Model R" or "Ordinary Model" was the first coffee mill produced by Peugeot during the 1910 to 1936 period. There was 10 different sizes available ranging from extra small (Size U) to extra large (Size 8). This mill was also called counter mill as they were use to grind all kind of other ingredients such as sugar or grains.
The model R has a body made of beech wood and it has a small oval brass plate in the front that reads "Peugeot Frères - Valentigney, Doubs", The grinding mechanism is made out of cast iron and steel.
Because of its smaller size (Size 2), you could also use it as a pepper mill. A really nice addition to your country style kitchen!
♥ Working condition ♥
This coffee grinder is good vintage and in working condition. This mill has not been dismounted and cleaned but there is barely any rust inside the burr. You can choose your type of grinding: from fine to coarse. Instruction will be provided with your purchase. Still, please keep in mind that this grinder is over 80 years old, so it will probably not perform as perfectly as a new modern version. I would recommend a special occasion use rather than a daily / heavy duty one.
♥ Noticeable cosmetic issues ♥
There are markings on the wooden the top panel and on the drawer door. The top metallic door is a little bit bent. The wood has been waxed to preserve its beauty. Click on Zoom for larger pictures.
