A very unique and very pretty religious oval image depicting the Virgin Marie with baby Jesus. The frame is made out of brass and the picture is under a convex glass. This frame came from a very small church in the French island of Corsica, in the city of Lasigna, where they celebrate every November 8th, the birth of the Virgin Marie. According to the story, 2 miracles happened there so every year, on November 8, a lot of people will travel to the village to participate at the celebration.
I have to share a personal story regarding this frame. I received it in a 21 pounds package with very heavy items, including a cast iron kitchen scale and everything was broken inside the package including the scale, but this frame was the only things that survived, along with another small item. That should have been the first thing to brake because it made out of glass and was not heavy compare to the rest, but it was intact. So I assume the Virgin Marie really was protecting it.
The sign reads on the top: "Notre Dame de Lavasina - Priez pour nous" which translates to "Notre-Dame of Lavasina - Pray for us"
Condition: The frame is in good vintage condition. The only thing to mention is that it had some water damage on the top part of the image as seen on picture 4. Click on ZOOM for larger pictures.
Dimension Frame : 16" (40 cm) long x 12" (30 cm) wide.
Weight: 2 lb 4.6 oz - 1 kg 40 gr
