A lovely piece, the pictures do not do it justice. The copper lid shows people dancing in a garden/field in old French country dress.
At the base is the inscription:
D Apres Watteau
The "Farandole" is described as an open chain community dance popular in Provence, France going back generations,
It bears similarities to the jig.
The green velvet linings inside seem to be original, as is the red felt on the bottom.
The hinged lid is in good working order.
Very good condition for it's age & use.
4 3/4" Diameter
1 1/4" Deep
