Beautiful 1960's classic style Jackie O dress. Fabric is a heavy silk / wool blend which despite being sleeveless I would think more appropriate in colder weather.
Sleeveless, collarless with a set in back waist only, tapered in the front and accentuated with two little side bows. Closing in the back with a long zipper. Very simple without embellishment.
There is a condition issue. On the front skirt is a long streak of soiling. It is actually on the inside but shows through to the outside faintly. I tried the damp cloth but to no avail. It has not been dry cleaned.
Label is L'Aiglon. The following information was provided courtesy of the Vintage Fashion Guild Label Resource. L’Aiglon was founded in 1919 in Philadelphia as part of Biberman Brothers, Inc. The company’s original label read “Biberman Make” but changed in 1919 to “L’Aiglon”. On those early labels you will find “Biberman Make” in small letters. Biberman Make dresses were “wash dresses”, or washable. “Tubable” was the word of the era. Biberman also made bathrobes and uniforms for maids and nurses. The company also made inexpensive but stylish and attractive dresses for women and juniors. During the 1950s, L’Aiglon dresses were used as costumes on the soap opera, The Edge of Night. The company produced dresses until about 1968.
