Diminutive ivory cello straw pillbox from the 1960's. Circumference of 20 inches with a center grosgrain rosette holding a birdcage of thick ivory veiling. Interior is finished with the standard petersham ribbon and inside placement combs.

Bamberger's was founded in 1893 in Newark NJ by Louis Bamberger. The historic Bamberger's flagship store at 131 Market Street in downtown once ranked among the nation's largest department store. In June, 1929 it was purchased by R. H. Macy Co. In 1986, all Bamberger's stores were renamed Macy's, and the Newark store operated as Macy's until it was closed in 1991.
