1940's asymmetrical hat in a deep flat black felt. Shallow crown with the upturned brim holding a thick layer of black netting. Netting is mostly stitched down to the grosgrain hatband allowing only a small amount to curl over the brim. Styled for a right side drop, higher on the head on the left side.
Interior is finished with the standard petersham ribbon.
Stamped on the interior ribbon is Dobbs Henriette. Also is two size tags of 7 1/8 which is usually a man's size but this is definitely a ladies hat. Dobbs was known for male hats but did make a few for the ladies. Henriette must be one of their rarely used lines. The only info I've been able to find is two newspaper ads from the middle 1940's.
Lovely condition, showing almost no wear or age.
Inner circumference is 21 inches. But a size 7 1/8 is usually 22 3/8 inches.
