Offered for your consideration is a fantastic and graphically pleasing hard to find French advertising sign. Found in Provence this
sign is original and from the 1950's. This colorful example is advertising Brillantine Fleurie Cadoricin which when translated means a flowery hair care (cosmetic) product. Brillantine softens and makes the hair glossy. It could be compared to what we call hair gel. The sign also advertises that the Brillantine is "délicieusement parfumée" which when translated means "deliciously fragrant".
This sign would have been displayed in a department or drug store selling the Brillantine product or possibly in a "salon de coiffure" or hair salon where the Brillantine was used on and sold to clients.
The sign measures 14 inches tall by 9 3/4 inches wide. This condition of this sign is good. It is very displayable and useable. The front shows a bit of wear but It does not take away from the beauty of the piece. The sign does show rust and wear on the back. Please see all of the photos as they are an important part of the description. There are two bendable pieces of metal on the back that can be adjusted to allow the the sign to stand on it's own. You may have to adjust one of the pieces of metal down a bit so it is flush with the surface it will stand on. The sign can also be hung by the original top ring tab or attached to the wall with nails using the two holes on either side of the sign near the top.
Overall this is a fun and unusual collectable of days gone by.
I guarantee all of my items to be 100% authentic and vintage. Thank you for your interest in my item!
