Offered for your consideration is fabulous 19th century antique handleless pot from the town of Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie in the south of France. This authentic terracotta pot is accented with deep rich swirls of a glaze color known as Jaspé. Saint-Quentin-La-Poterie is a town known for it's rich history of pot making. The town is in close proximity to clay pits which potters have been using to create their wares since the 14th century. They still make pottery there today. This pot is rare as it is small and without handles. These examples are harder to find. This pot would have been used daily, by the stove, in the kitchen.

This piece is in excellent antique condition. The glaze is intact, with normal wear and tear. I do want to mention that there is an old foot rim chip on the base (please see up-close photo). This in no way takes away from the beauty of this piece and it is hard to see. This fantastic piece of lustered earthenware pottery will mix well with your collection or stand alone as a unique rustic accent. For decorative use only. This piece is watertight and has been tested as such and could be used as a vase. Please have a look at all of the photos as they are an important part of the description. Apologies for the glare in some of the photos.

Dimensions: H 5.75" x Dia 5.25" x Base Dia 3" c. 1850
