This children’s garment exemplifies the typical boy’s school uniform of the early twentieth century. Young boys' kimono is decorated with graphically explicit military designs, images of many Rising Sun Battle Flags or other symbols of modern times, such as Mount Fuji, Raising Sun Battle flags, battleships and airplanes. This museum quality and conversation piece authentic kimono has images of many Rising Sun Battle Flags, Mitsubishis 1MF 1923 biplanes, and Project-13 class battleships, which were also commissioned during the 1920’s. The airship is labeled “Aikoku Nippon”. The Aikoku Kōtō was the first political party formed during Meiji period in 1874. This dates the Kimono to Pre-WWII, sometime between 1925 and 1935 (Taisho and beginning of Showa). Made of fine Japanese silk, cotton and asa (hemp) blend.
Opt for a wall display that is dramatic and easy. The back of this garment can be displayed due to its fine ornamentation. Kimono are usually displayed, most often with the front panels spread to show the full width and continuous design of these pieces.

Condition: Very good vintage. Time patina and signs of pre-ownership are visible. Items is sold 'as found" in Japan. Excellent for wall display. It dates from the Taisho or beginning of Showa period. Item is authentic. Shipment will be insured within the U.S.
