This children’s garment exemplifies the typical boy’s school uniform of the early twentieth century. Young boys' kimono is decorated with graphically explicit military designs, images of many Rising Sun Battle Flags or other symbols of modern times, such as Mount Fuji, Raising Sun Battle flags, battleships and airplanes. This museum quality and conversation piece authentic kimono has images of many Rising Sun Battle Flags, Mitsubishis 1MF 1923 biplanes, and Project-13 class battleships, which were also commissioned during the 1920’s. The airship is labeled “Aikoku Nippon”. The Aikoku Kōtō was the first political party formed during Meiji period in 1874. This dates the Kimono to Pre-WWII, sometime between 1925 and 1935 (Taisho and beginning of Showa). Made of fine Japanese silk, cotton and asa (hemp) blend.
