This Art-Nouveau slag glass lampshade is luxuriously decorated with "epoque" bronze flourishes. The American art glass is hand-bent and hand-finished.
Slag glass is the name used for opaque colored glass with white and/or cream streaks. There are many colors of slag glass, but the most common is a light brown color called caramel. Both flat and curved slag glass panels fit into a metal frame and held in with different kinds of slots and clips.
Slag glass lamps were extremely popular from the early 1900's until World War II.
