A striking Nishiki woven raised brocade kimono which provides an exuberant visual statement. The phoenix design on kimono is very rare and an auspicious symbol. In Japan, Ho-o, the mythical Phoenix was adopted as a symbol of the imperial household, particularly the empress. There are 14 meters (16 yards) of silk brocade fabric fashioned in this kimono, plus another 14 meters (16 yards) in the shioze silk lining.
This bridal kimono is an authentic collectors’ item and unique. This is NOT one of those tourist-shop, satin kimono. It is the real deal, silk woven in extra fine quality craftsmanship. Made in Japan.
Many different factors determine prices. First: age, rarity, and condition. Second: aesthetics. Since in Japan the best kimono have always been considered textile art, kimono prices can vary as much as do prices on paintings. Thus, beautiful and rare kimono command a premium.
