Vintage Kimono jackets (short kimono or haori) are hot fashion trend, especially for weddings. This gold embroidered haori-Kimono is so well made that it can be worn inside out. The haori has one layer of silk, like a kimono, and is lined with another layer of silk. Geisha, professional hostesses and entertainers, were the first women to wear haori over their kimonos. During the seventeenth century geisha in the Fukagawa neighborhood of Edo, as Tokyo was then called, started to wear haori to assert their mastery and skill in the arts.

Original himo (the tie).
Authentic, luxury-soft, woven in Japan, silk.
Provenance: Kyushu Island, Japan.
Color: Cream-off white. Motif is multicolored and floral.
Specific: Reversible (please see photos). Wearable both ways.
Lining is wonderful silk woven with botanical motifs (please see photos attached). Entirely, traditionally Japanese hand-made.
Length (shoulder to hem): 30” (76 cm).
Back (flat): 22” (56 cm).
Sleeve length: 18” (46 cm).
Condition: Excellent vintage. Haori (short kimono) is pre-owned. Some slight discoloration and foxing inherent with silk and age, but the price has been adjusted accordingly (see photos). All items in our shop come from a pet-free and smoke-free boutique collection.
