Yuzen is a 17th century, rice paste resist dyeing technique for fabrics. The yuzen method provided an imitation of aristocratic brocades, which were forbidden to commoners. An absolute piece of Japanese art!
Available: 11 yards. Width: 14 inches. Color: Bordeaux, cream butter, champagne, red, pink, blues. Flowers are colored in shades of red, violet, yellow and blue.
Provenance: Luxury, bespoke kimono shop in Fukuoka-Japan.
Condition: excellent vintage. Self-finished (selvage) edges -parallel to the warp, which don't necessarily require work to prevent from fraying.
