A lovely hand embroidered early 19th Century French ecclesiastical panel with a sacred heart motif surrounded by flowers and scrolling motifs at each corner. There are tiny metallic sequins, and the metallic motifs are worked in high relief. On a grosgrain watered silk background, the reverse is linen with a small hand embroidered cross in the centre. This came from a convent, and was found on my most recent buying trip to Belgium and France. It measures 7 1/2" x 7 1/2". Excellent condition with a little darkening of the metallic wirework consistent with its age. No damage. Lovely piece of early 19th Century ecclesiastical embroidery.
